IFCA sWare (Pty) Ltd, a software solutions provider, will be implementing a fully integrated information management system at Edu-Loan, Namibia. Edu-Loan, with four offices strategically located around Namibia, is a company that prides itself on providing financial assistance to students to further their studies. To date approximately 17 000 learners have benefited from assistance they received from Edu-Loan.

“Edu-Loan identified the need for an integrated software solution earlier this year and an extensive process was undertaken in evaluating different solutions offered by vendors,” says Leon Potgieter, Senior manager at Edu-Loan.

“We had to find a solution with the best possible fit for our current situation and requirements for the future. This solution should however have been developed specifically for companies that handle micro- lending and financing.”

IFCA offered such an integrated business solution allowing various modules from financial accounting, micro lending loans and micro finance for housing loans to link one to another.

Amongst the modules that the company is implementing are: Financial Accounting; Customer Relationship Management; Loans+ Management and Push Technology.

“Often companies do not have integrated systems – that is, different areas of their business are run using different types of software – which makes for tedious extraction of data from disparate systems,” says Brian Schultz, director of IFCA sWare.

IFCA consultants will together with employees of Edu-Loan conduct a Business Process Review (BPR) for the entire business which will determine the ultimate final solution to be implemented. The benefit of this audit is that Edu-Loan will have documented and up-to-date processes and these will become the standard processes for the company going forward.

Full training and skills transfer will take place as the solution is implemented. “We will ensure that various levels from basic user training to what we call ‘super-users’ are trained giving Edu-Loan full control of their information management system,” says Schultz.

The system is expected to go live during the month of November 2007.
